Job summary

FitNext Consulting in Colombia is seeking an engineer to translate evolving ideas into AI-powered product features. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and the current AI Engineer to ship concrete capabilities from experimental proofs of concept to production.

This is a hands-on role with ownership from experimentation through production, contributing to technical decisions and establishing practices within a developing AI function.

Qualifications

• Early-stage startup experience helping launch a product and iterating toward product-market fit as customer needs evolved.
• Production AI experience shipping AI or ML capabilities into a customer-facing product with measurable results.
• Strong software engineering skills with hands-on Python and building backend services, APIs, and integrations.
• AI evaluation experience assessing output quality, reliability, latency, and cost.
• Experience working with data to prepare, validate, and connect data for AI features.
• End-to-end delivery from prototype to deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.

As the company works toward product-market fit, it is growing its AI capabilities and looking for an engineer who can turn evolving ideas into features that solve real customer problems.

About the role

You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, and the existing AI Engineer to build and deliver AI-powered product features.

This is a hands-on role with ownership from experimentation through production. You’ll contribute to technical decisions, help establish practices within a developing AI function, and improve features based on customer feedback and measured performance.

• Experience building LLM-powered product features.
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, semantic search, or AI agents.
• Experience comparing model providers or adapting existing models to specific use cases.
• Experience creating evaluation datasets and feedback loops for AI features.
• Familiarity with SQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, dbt, or Airflow.
• Experience with cloud deployment, CI/CD, and production observability.
• Experience contributing to AI architecture or technical direction within a small engineering team.
