BairesDev is seeking an experienced Software Engineer (Query Engine) to design and optimize core components for high-performance data retrieval. You will bridge high-level query languages with low-level execution, enabling efficient analytical workloads and scalable architectures.

You will design query planners, optimizers, and execution engines, working with Parquet/Iceberg storage formats and vectorized execution. This role emphasizes remote collaboration and modern, scalable data platforms.

Formación

• 4+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on database internals or query engines.
• Proficiency in systems programming with Java or C++.
• Deep understanding of columnar storage formats such as Apache Parquet or Iceberg and vectorized execution.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Responsabilidades

• Design and implement sophisticated query planners and cost-based optimizers to generate efficient execution paths.
• Develop high-performance execution engines using vectorized processing and SIMD instructions to leverage modern CPU architectures.
• Optimize columnar storage interactions to minimize I/O and maximize data throughput for analytical queries.
• Build and refine query engine internals, including join algorithms, aggregation frameworks, and sorting mechanisms.
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to integrate specialized query engines into broader data platform architectures.
