Job summary

Carnival Cruise Line is seeking a Public Health Officer to safeguard guests and crew aboard our vessels. You will drive shipboard public health compliance, manage disease prevention, and coordinate with shoreside teams on health standards.

Responsibilities include leading audits, outbreak response, training, and collaboration with medical staff to meet regulatory requirements. Requires shipboard/public health certification and relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of shipboard experience or three years of full-time shoreside experience in implementing, overseeing, or auditing public health programs
• USPH Vessel Sanitation Program Certification, Infection Control Certification, SHIPSAN certification or related qualifications preferred
• Knowledge of infection control practices and Vessel Sanitation Standards; able to work in a fast-paced cruise ship environment

Responsibilities

• Oversees disease prevention and control activities on board for COVID-19 and other communicable diseases
• Participates in the shipboard Outbreak Management Team and coordinates adherence to decisions
• Manages infection control PPE, supplies, storage, and usage; monitors compliance with procedures
• Investigates illness cases and conducts contact tracing; tracks exposure and transmission risks
• Coordinates public health drills to ensure crew readiness and training
• Assists with responding to health authority requests and reports illness status to leadership
• Oversees vessel sanitation compliance with Global HESS Public Health policies and related standards
• Reviews internal and external inspection reports and communicates findings to management
• Delivers public health training and supports shore excursions and port health activities
