BairesDev in Chile is hiring a Senior Scala Developer to lead complex Spark implementations and mentor the team. You will design and optimize data-intensive applications, contribute to Spark’s evolution, and collaborate with global engineers to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in software development.
Strong expertise in Scala, functional programming, and JVM optimization.
Deep understanding of Spark internals, Catalyst optimizer, and Tungsten execution engine.
Experience in building large-scale, fault-tolerant Spark pipelines.
Proven track record of contributions to Spark or other Apache projects.
Advanced level of English.

Responsibilities

Contribute actively to Apache Spark and related open source projects as a core contributor.
Lead development of distributed data applications using Scala and Spark APIs.
Implement advanced Dataset and typed transformations with Scala’s functional features.
Drive performance tuning and memory optimization in Spark applications.
Mentor junior developers and review Scala/Spark code for best practices.
