IOM is seeking a Project Assistant to support its AVRR programs and migrant-focused initiatives. You will help manage case files, assist with pre-screening, and ensure smooth program operations across multiple systems.
Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, with confidentiality and teamwork valued in a multicultural humanitarian setting.
Organizational context: Established in 1951, IOM is a UN-related organization dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It provides services and advice to governments and migrants, with a focus on Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programs. The organization aims to ensure safe, orderly, and dignified migration, fostering a professional and inclusive workplace.
Job purpose: This role supports IOM's mandate to promote humane and orderly migration, specifically within the context of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programs. The Project Assistant will contribute to the effective management of migrant cases and program activities, ensuring the provision of essential services and support to beneficiaries. Responsibilities: The Project Assistant will manage case files, ensuring their integrity and completeness, and assist in pre-screening and adjudications support. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records in various systems (MIMOSA, ATOMS, AMADEUS), supporting travel arrangements, and providing transit assistance. The role involves conducting form-fill interviews, accurately entering data, scanning documents, and performing quality assurance checks on case files and data. Additionally, the assistant will report on work progress, maintain confidentiality of beneficiary information, and act as a focal point for programmatic matters. Support in other administrative tasks and duty travel for meetings or training may also be required.
Education: A High School Diploma with four years of relevant experience is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or a related field from an accredited institution, coupled with two years of relevant professional experience, is acceptable.
Work experience: Experience in migration case management, particularly with AVR and AVRR programs, is preferred. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and victims of trafficking is beneficial. Prior experience in a multicultural environment within international humanitarian organizations or NGOs is an advantage.
