Metso in Chile seeks a Manager, SAM Operational Management & Performance to drive regional cadence, governance and performance across SAM network in Chile, Peru and Brazil. You transform operational challenges into structured scenarios, business cases and actionable recommendations for the VP and plant leaders.

You will lead the Lean/Kaizen system, standard work and KPI governance, while ensuring audit and sustainability of approved changes across sites and a reliable operating truth.

Formación

  • Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or supply chain.
  • Experience in multi-site manufacturing and operational-performance in mining, heavy industry or industrial consumables.
  • Operational modelling, capacity and workforce analysis, shift design, bottleneck/throughput analysis, backlog scenarios, business cases and manufacturing-cost efficiency.
  • Strong planning, Lean/Kaizen, KPI governance, SAP/ERP and data-analysis capability.

Responsabilidades

  • Own the SAM operating-management cadence, including weekly/monthly reviews, agendas, action tracking, escalation follow-up and closure.
  • Govern operational performance reporting: KPI definitions, data quality, consolidation, executive packs and report simplification to create a reliable single source of operational truth.
  • Develop fact-based scenarios and business cases for capacity, backlog, shifts, operating hours, workforce, supervisory coverage, bottlenecks and throughput.
  • Provide functional dotted-line governance to plant planning teams while they continue reporting to Plant Managers; standardise planning horizons, assumptions, routines, prioritisation, sequencing and planning KPIs.
  • Benchmark and standardise routes, cycle times, batch sizes, planning parameters, tooling/mould/press utilisation and operating practices across sites.
  • Lead the regional Lean/Kaizen system, improvement pipeline, standard work, benefit tracking and replication of validated improvements.
  • Own the operational-audit framework for process adherence, inventory/material movement controls, reconciliations, segregation of duties, shrinkage/loss prevention, 5S and corrective actions.
  • Track implementation and sustainability of approved pilots and changes, verifying benefits and ensuring deviations are visible and corrected.

OBJETIVO DEL CARGO / JOB STATEMENT

The Manager, SAM Operational Management & Performance is the analytical backbone and management-system owner for the South America Regional Operating Hub. The role supports a multi-country, multi-plant network across Chile, Peru and Brazil by owning the regional operating cadence, performance governance, reporting, process standardisation, continuous improvement and operational-audit framework.

The role converts operational challenges into structured scenarios, business cases and recommendations for the VP and plant leadership. It does not replace line decision accountability; it strengthens the analysis, governance, follow-up and sustainability required to make consistent decisions and implement approved changes across the SAM network.

DEBERES Y RESPONSABILIDADES DEL CARGO / JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own the SAM operating-management cadence, including weekly/monthly reviews, agendas, action tracking, escalation follow-up and closure.

  • Improved KPI reliability, reporting consistency and quality of VP / plant‑leadership decision packs.
  • Business cases and scenarios completed for capacity, backlog, shifts, operating hours and supervisory models.
  • Planning standardisation, improved forecast / schedule discipline and clearer backlog prioritisation.
  • Lean/Kaizen pipeline value delivered, replicated and sustained across sites.
  • Operational‑audit actions closed; reduced control gaps in inventory, material movement and process adherence.
  • Works with Plant Managers, Planning, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance/Controlling, HR, Quality, Logistics, Procurement, Sourcing, Order Management and Market Area stakeholders.
ESPECIFICACIÓN DEL CARGO / POSITION SPECIFICATION

Required: Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or equivalent experience; strong multi-site manufacturing and operational‑performance experience in mining, heavy industry or industrial consumables; practical capability in operational modelling, capacity and workforce analysis, shift design, bottleneck/throughput analysis, backlog scenarios, business cases and manufacturing‑cost efficiency.

Strong planning, Lean/Kaizen, standard work, KPI governance, SAP/ERP and data‑analysis capability. Able to influence across functions without direct authority and provide concise, decision‑ready recommendations to senior leadership.

Desirable: Lean Six Sigma; experience with rubber, poly‑met, screening media or similar manufacturing; Power BI/analytics; Spanish and English fluency, Portuguese beneficial.
