The ideal candidate has at least five years of EPC experience, with strong contract management, risk assessment, and claims support expertise, plus proficiency in Chilean compliance

Qualifications

  • Qualified Chilean lawyer with five or more years of EPC project experience.
  • Strong contract management and risk assessment capabilities.
  • Experience supporting claims, disputes, and compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day legal and contractual support on EPC contracts and project execution.
  • Identify, assess, and monitor contract and legal risks.
  • Maintain issue trackers and risk registers for the project.
  • Assist with preparation and management of claims, including extension of time and cost claims.
  • Review notices, submissions, and contractual correspondence.
  • Support dispute prevention and preparation of records for potential disputes.
  • Establish and maintain the project compliance Management System per Chilean law (Law No. 20,393).
  • Support anti-corruption, ethics, conflicts of interest, sustainability, and human rights policies.
  • Deliver legal, contractual, and compliance training to project personnel.
  • Coordinate with external counsel, Employer’s representatives, JV partners, and authorities.

Job description

The Legal Specialist will join the Project Management Team of a challenging large-scale electric power infrastructure project in Chile.

Reporting to the Commercial and Contract Manager, the position will be responsible for providing day-to-day legal and contractual support, managing compliance activities, controlling legal and contractual risks, supporting claims and disputes, and coordinating legal matters with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal advice on the EPC Contract, subcontract agreements, and project execution matters.
  • Identifying, assessing, and monitoring contractual and legal risks.
  • Maintaining legal issue trackers and contractual risk registers.
  • Supporting the preparation and management of claims, including Extension of Time and additional cost claims.
  • Reviewing claim notices, submissions, contractual correspondence, and supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with dispute prevention, mitigation strategies, and the preparation of records for potential disputes.
  • Establishing and maintaining the project compliance management system in accordance with applicable Chilean legislation, including Law No. 20,393.
  • Supporting policies and practices related to anti-corruption, business ethics, conflicts of interest, sustainability, environmental protection, human rights, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Delivering legal, contractual, and compliance training to project personnel.
  • Supporting compliance investigations, audits, and internal assessments.
  • Coordinating with external legal counsel, the Employer’s representatives, subcontractors’ lawyers, the Joint Venture, shareholders, and relevant authorities.
  • Ensuring that project communications and documentation are legally accurate, consistent, and aligned with the project’s contractual strategy.
  • Performing other duties assigned by Project Management.

We are seeking a qualified lawyer with at least five years of relevant experience in EPC projects (energy, infrastructure, construction or related industries).

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in contract management, contractual risk assessment, claims and dispute support, and corporate compliance under Chilean law.

Experience working with international contractors, joint ventures, external counsel, and multidisciplinary project teams will be highly valued.

Advanced professional English, strong analytical and communication skills, and a practical, solution-oriented approach are essential.
