Glencore Copper SAOP in Chile seeks a Lead Contracts Administrator to oversee the full lifecycle of contracts on large mining projects. You will drive procurement strategy, tendering, and contract execution while ensuring governance, commercial risk control, and value optimization.

The role requires extensive experience with EPC/EPCM and major contractor relationships, plus strong negotiation and stakeholder management in a dynamic project environment.

Formación

Purpose and objective

The Lead Contracts Administrator is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of contracts, from procurement strategy and tendering through contract execution, administration, change management, and close-out.

The role will provide senior-level contract management expertise to the Pachón Project, ensuring effective commercial governance, contractual compliance, risk mitigation, and value optimization.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in large-scale capital-intensive mining and infrastructure projects, with proven involvement in major EPC, EPCM, and other project delivery models, including experience managing complex contractor relationships, commercial negotiations, and contract execution in challenging project environments.

This position will report directly to the Project Director and Functional Regional Commercial Lead.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Law, or related discipline.
• Deep knowledge of the Chilean construction and mining contracting market, including contractors, consultants, and service providers.
• Strong knowledge of construction progress measurement, payment mechanisms, schedules, and cost management principles
• Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong understanding of mining project development, engineering, construction methodologies, and commercial practices.
• Senior-level contract management capability.
• Strong understanding of contract lifecycle management.
• Ability to analyze complex contractual issues and provide practical commercial solutions.
• Ability to work independently within a dynamic project environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in contract administration and commercial management within major capital projects.
• Proven experience in capital-intensive mining projects, preferably involving copper or other large-scale mineral developments.
• Demonstrated experience managing major construction and infrastructure contracts under different delivery models, including:
  • EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction)
  • EPCM (Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management)
  • BOOT / BOT or similar alternative delivery models
  • Other complex contracting arrangements.
• Previous involvement in major project execution phases, including construction, commissioning, and contractor management.
• Experience working with international contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Experience managing changes, claims, variations, and dispute avoidance processes.

Key Accountabilities:

• Support the development and implementation of contracting strategies.
• Manage engineering, consultancy, and construction contract administration activities.
• Support tendering, evaluation, negotiation, and contract award processes.
• Administer contracts throughout execution, including changes, variations, claims, and close-out.
• Monitor contractor performance, compliance, and contractual obligations.
• Provide commercial and contractual advice to project leadership.
• Maintain contract registers, records, and reporting requirements.
• Support risk identification, mitigation, and escalation processes.
• Ensure alignment between contractual outcomes and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract Strategy and Tendering

• Support the development and implementation of contracting strategies aligned with project execution requirements.
• Provide contract management input during procurement planning, bidder prequalification, and tender processes.
• Support the preparation of tender documentation, commercial conditions, evaluation criteria, and contract award recommendations.
• Participate in commercial negotiations with contractors, consultants, and suppliers.

Contract Administration and Management

• Manage the complete contract lifecycle, including pre-award, execution, change management, and close-out activities.
• Administer major engineering, consultancy, EPCM, EPC, and infrastructure-related contracts.
• Ensure contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, payment terms, and performance requirements are effectively managed.
• Lead contract administration activities, including variations, claims, extensions of time, and commercial correspondence.
• Maintain accurate contract records, registers, and documentation.

Commercial Risk and Performance Management

• Identify contractual risks and opportunities and ensure timely escalation to project leadership.
• Support project controls activities related to progress measurement, cost forecasting, schedule impacts, and contractor performance.
• Analyze contractor performance and support resolution of commercial and contractual issues.
• Ensure alignment between contract execution, project objectives, and business requirements.

Stakeholder Management

• Establish effective working relationships with Engineering, Project Controls, Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, consultants, and contractors.
• Provide contractual guidance to project teams.
• Act as a key commercial interface with contractors and suppliers.
• Develop strong relationships with Chilean market stakeholders, contractors, and service providers.
