Bluelight is seeking a senior backend-focused software engineer to join its rapidly growing team. You will work on high-quality applications, building scalable RESTful services with Node.js/TypeScript, AWS, and PostgreSQL, while collaborating with frontend teams and clients across the Americas.

Applicants should have 5+ years of backend experience, strong knowledge of API design, security, and testing, and a passion for learning in a dynamic, remote-friendly environment with flexible hours.

• 5+ years professional backend software development experience.
• Strong experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS.
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB incl. Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments.
• SQL and schema migrations (node-postgres, node-pg-migrate).
• Professional experience with React.
• Strong testing practices incl. integration tests against real databases.
• Experience with AI coding assistants in daily development.
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance.
• Full stack development with frontend contributions when needed.
• Experience with large, complex systems.
• Ability to overlap US business hours.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
