Bluelight is a leading software consultancy solving complex problems with modern technology. We are seeking a senior backend-focused engineer to design and build high-quality applications, APIs, and services in AWS, using Node.js and TypeScript.

You will work across a fast-paced team, contributing to scalable systems and security-conscious, multi-tenant environments. You will collaborate with frontend teammates, implement CI/CD, and participate in testing against real databases.

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused).
• Strong Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript experience.
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS.
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs.
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services.
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments.
• Overlaps US business hours.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Extreme ownership and accountability for deliverables.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience (backend-focused)
• Strong professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript
• Experience building low-latency API services in AWS
• Experience building scalable RESTful APIs
• Experience with SDK integrations to other services
• Experience with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Experience building secure multi-tenant environments
• Comfortable writing raw SQL and managing schema migrations (e.g., node-postgres, node-pg-migrate)
• Professional experience with React
• Strong testing practices, including integration tests against real databases and failure-mode/fault-injection testing
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development
• CI/CD application creation and maintenance skills
• Solid understanding of full stack development, with the ability to contribute to frontend work when needed
• Substantial background working with large, complex systems
• Ability to overlap US business hours
• Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in compliance-sensitive or audit-heavy domains (e.g., fintech, telecom/TCPA compliance)
