Job summary

EPAM Systems Inc. seeks a Database Migration Architect to lead the database tier of a VMware-to-AWS migration, delivering up to 6,000 VMs in waves.

You will design target databases on Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora, plan migrations with AWS DMS, coordinating each wave with VM cutovers via AWS MGN. You will ensure highly available, secure, and cost-efficient databases, right-size instances, configure Multi-AZ, encryption, and perform performance tuning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in cloud migrations.
• 2+ years in senior/lead/manager roles.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Application Migration Service (MGN).
• Strong AWS CloudFormation experience for IaC.
• Proficiency in English (C1).

Responsibilities

• Assess source databases and define migration strategy per wave.
• Plan and execute migrations to RDS/Aurora with DMS.
• Validate data, define rollback procedures, and ensure cutovers.
• Design target DB architecture with availability, backups, encryption, and cost efficiency.

Job description

We are looking for a Database Migration Architect to join our team and lead the database tier of a large-scale VMware-to-AWS migration of nearly 6,000 virtual machines, delivered in waves of up to 600 VMs. The role designs and owns the target database platforms on Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora, plans and executes database migrations with AWS Database Migration Service, and aligns each database wave with the VM cutover run through AWS Application Migration Service (MGN).
