Job summary

BHP Chile seeks a seasoned Project Leader to direct the Selection, Definition and Execution phases of a Major Capital Project, ensuring delivery within scope, time, budget and quality. You will coordinate across functions (PC, HR, Engineering, HSS, Finance) and uphold BHP's charter and safety standards.

The role demands 10+ years managing large capital projects, fluency in English and Spanish, and the ability to lead diverse teams in a multi-location mining environment.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical) or other relevant Operational experience.
• 10+ years’ experience in managing medium to large capital projects (US$20M to US$250M, >US$250M).
• Experience across all major capital project phases (identification, selection, definition and execution).
• Fluency in English and Spanish (Written and Spoken).

Responsibilities

• Understand project financial and non-financial value drivers (CAPEX/OPEX/Production/Price/Risks & Uncertainties) and apply them to decisions.
• Manage peaks and troughs in workload and team makeup across projects.
• Challenge, test and scrutinise assumptions to align on shared understanding of the project.
• Integrate scope of work of each function into the Project Scope without duplicates, gaps, or overlaps.
• Administer contract requirements across the study; monitor contractor performance and compliance.
• Governance (IPR) and stakeholder expectations management to avoid delays.
