European Southern Observatory (ESO) invites applications for the ESO Fellowship Programme 2026/2027. Fellows develop independent research programs and participate in ESO's scientific life, including organising workshops, co-supervising PhD students, and coordinating research groups.

The programme is open to applicants with a PhD in astronomy, physics or related discipline before 1 November 2027, spanning observational, theoretical and computational astrophysics.

Formación

• PhD obtained before 1 November 2027.
• Open to early-career scientists from all astrophysical fields.
• Observational, theoretical and computational astrophysics are all eligible areas.

Responsabilidades

• Propose and contribute to the organisation of scientific workshops.
• Co-supervising PhD students and coordinating thematic research groups.
• Join scientific committees, organise seminars, and write grant and telescope proposals.
• Develop new capabilities and contribute to ESO science programmes.
