HCLTech is seeking a proactive AS/400 (iSeries) Operator - L1 to support day-to-day iSeries operations and system maintenance in a 24x7 environment. You will monitor system health, scheduled jobs, backups, storage, and alerts, ensuring high availability and business continuity.

Responsibilities include monitoring batch jobs with i Job Schedulers, managing backups with BRMS, handling storage and tape libraries, assisting in user and group profiles, and following ITIL incident procedures while

• Basic understanding of i (AS/400) Operating System.
• Knowledge of Power Systems operations.
• Familiarity with BRMS backup monitoring and log analysis.
• Understanding of user profile and group profile management.
• Basic knowledge of HMC (Hardware Management Console).
• Knowledge of tape library operations and media handling.
• Basic understanding of High Availability (HA) concepts.
• Basic knowledge of MQ monitoring.
• Experience in monitoring batch jobs and scheduled processes.
• Knowledge of printer configuration and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of ITIL-based incident and ticket management processes.
• Ability to work in rotational shifts and provide 24x7 operational support.

Responsabilidades

• Monitor i (AS/400) system alerts, including Servers, HMC, Storage, and Tape Libraries.
• Monitor and manage batch job processing using i Job Schedulers & ISV Tools.
• Monitor OS thresholds such as CPU, memory, disk usage, and performance metrics.
• Monitor backup jobs using Native and Advanced Job Scheduler tools.
• Perform routine operational checks and ensure timely completion of scheduled tasks.
• Generate and maintain daily system status and operational reports.
• Follow established incident management and escalation procedures.
• Create, update, and close incident tickets as required.
• Monitor and maintain tape libraries and media inventory.
• Support printer-related activities including Session, Network, and Remote Printers.
• Assist in user account administration activities and profile management.
• Perform basic log monitoring and analysis using BRMS and system logs.
• Monitor High Availability environments and MQ-related processes.
• Assist with HMC console monitoring and basic administration tasks.
• Report storage utilization for storage devices.

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented AS/400 (iSeries) Operator - L1 to support day-to-day i (AS/400) operations and system maintenance activities. The role requires continuous monitoring of system health, scheduled jobs, backups, storage, and operational alerts while providing support in a 24x7 environment. The candidate should possess fundamental i operational knowledge and follow defined incident and escalation procedures to ensure system availability and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor i (AS/400) system alerts, including Servers, HMC, Storage (Internal & External), and Tape Libraries (Physical & Virtual).
• Monitor and manage batch job processing using i Job Schedulers & ISV Tools.
• Monitor operating system thresholds such as CPU utilization, memory utilization, disk usage, and system performance metrics.
• Monitor backup jobs using Native Job Scheduler and Advanced Job Scheduler.
• Perform routine operational checks and ensure timely completion of scheduled tasks.
• Generate and maintain daily system status and operational reports.
• Follow established incident management and escalation procedures.
• Create, update, and close incident tickets as required.
• Monitor and maintain tape libraries and media inventory.
• Support printer-related activities including Session Printers, Network Printer and Remote Printers.
• Assist in user account administration activities such as account creation, modification, disable and deletion.
• Support group profile administration and authority management activities.
• Perform basic log monitoring and analysis using BRMS and system logs.
• Monitor High Availability (HA) environments and MQ-related processes.
• Assist with HMC console monitoring and basic administration tasks.
• Monitor and report storage utilization for both internal and external storage devices.
