Roche is offering a 6-month Workforce Optimization / Strategies (Data Science) Intern role. You will explore how data and technology drive strategic decision-making for the workforce, gain hands-on experience in External Workforce, Strategic Workforce Planning, and Skills Management.

You will support initiatives, analyze data, and help prepare reports. The role emphasizes collaboration in an agile environment and opportunities to apply R/Python to generate meaningful insights for our workforce

Formación

  • Pursuing a Bachelor or Master in economics, business, HR management, STEM or similar.
  • Strong passion for data science and technology.
  • First internship experience in HR or analytics is a plus.
  • Proficient in R or Python with shinyApp/Streamlit, CRAN and dplyr.
  • Strong English communication and Excel/Google Sheets and SQL skills.

Workforce Optimization / Strategies (Data Science) Intern

This role is part of the Integrated Workforce Strategies Chapter within the People & Culture organization. Our purpose is to enable the business to achieve its ambitious goals while anticipating and adapting to a rapidly changing environment. We elevate the way leaders shape our future workforce by providing data-driven, skills-based workforce planning solutions to the business, such as Strategic Workforce Planning. We are also developing Roche-wide innovative frameworks to support closing our gaps (e.g. expanding our internal skills by leveraging external partners). Shaping new planning solutions, creating insights and automating processes as well as working with cross-functional partners offers you great learning opportunities.

The Opportunity

As an intern in the Workforce Optimization team for a 6-month period, you will have the opportunity to explore how data and technology drive strategic decision-making regarding our workforce. You will gain hands‑on experience in areas such as External Workforce, Strategic Workforce Planning and Skills Management, learning how data‑driven insights contribute to shaping the future of our workforce.

In this role, you will support various team initiatives, analyze and interpret data, and help prepare insightful reports. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of our methodologies, which play an active part in projects directly impacting our strategic goals. Collaboration is at the heart of our work, and you will partner closely with the experienced professionals in an agile environment that values empowerment, open communication and a willingness to test new ideas.

Throughout your internship, you will have the chance to apply and expand your coding skills in R, using data analysis and visualization to generate meaningful insights that support our workforce strategy. This internship is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about data analytics, people strategy, and innovation to learn, contribute, and make a tangible impact.

Who you are
  • You are in your Bachelor or Master studies in the field of economics, business administration, HR Management, STEM subjects or similar
  • You have a passion for data science and technology
  • Ideally, you have first (internship) experience in HR, and/or analytics fields
  • You can address complex problems, analyze data, generate insights and develop effective data‑driven recommendations
  • You have expertise in R or Python as a programming language. You are also familiar with packages like shinyApp/Streamlit, CRAN and dplyr.
  • You have expertise in Office or Google Suite, esp. Excel or GoogleSheets as well as SQL. Having experience with Python would be a plus.
  • You are motivated to work independently in a collaborative and dynamic environment, can adapt to different needs and are willing to learn new competencies
  • You are characterized by a high level of social competence and are able to efficiently communicate in English
