Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Web3 Licensing and Regulatory Compliance Specialist based in Switzerland.

The Web3 Licensing and Regulatory Compliance Specialist will support digital-asset businesses in navigating complex regulatory frameworks and obtaining the authorizations required to operate. This role combines regulatory advisory, licensing support, compliance assessments, and the development of practical solutions for the evolving Web3 ecosystem. You will work with clients ranging from crypto-asset service providers and virtual asset service providers to token issuers and other blockchain-focused businesses. A key focus will be European Union and United Arab Emirates regulatory frameworks, helping organizations translate legal obligations into effective governance, risk management, and operational controls. Working alongside cybersecurity, anti-money laundering, product, and engineering specialists, you will bridge regulatory requirements with technical implementation. You will also contribute to regulatory research and the development of scalable compliance tools, methodologies, and service offerings. This is an excellent opportunity for a compliance professional who wants to deepen their expertise in digital assets while helping shape regulatory best practices in a fast-growing international industry.

Accountabilities
  • Regulatory Advisory and Client Delivery: Deliver regulatory consulting projects for crypto-asset service providers (CASPs), virtual asset service providers (VASPs), token issuers, and other digital-asset businesses. Support licensing readiness, authorization processes, compliance gap assessments, regulatory reviews, and implementation projects.
  • Licensing and Authorization Support: Assist clients with preparing and coordinating licensing applications, supporting documentation, evidence, stakeholder contributions, and responses to regulatory authorities, particularly across European Union and United Arab Emirates jurisdictions.
  • Compliance Framework Development: Translate regulatory requirements into practical governance frameworks, anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CFT) procedures, cybersecurity measures, technology controls, and operational policies tailored to digital-asset business models.
  • Regulatory Gap Assessments: Evaluate existing compliance arrangements against applicable regulatory requirements, identify deficiencies, and develop clear, actionable remediation plans to support licensing and ongoing compliance.
  • Research and Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor evolving Web3 regulations, supervisory expectations, and industry developments across priority jurisdictions, with particular emphasis on the European Union and the United Arab Emirates.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare clear regulatory analyses, compliance reports, application materials, control mappings, and recommendations. Present findings through client workshops and written deliverables, ensuring alignment with project scope, deadlines, and follow-up actions.
  • Internal Methodology and Service Development: Convert regulatory research and client engagement insights into reusable templates, methodologies, knowledge resources, and improved regulatory advisory services.
  • Compliance Technology and Workflow Improvement: Collaborate with cybersecurity, AML, product, and engineering teams to define regulatory requirements, improve compliance tools and workflows, contribute to testing, and ensure solutions reflect applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Continuous Improvement and Market Insights: Use client feedback and market developments to identify new service opportunities, improve delivery consistency, and develop scalable solutions for digital-asset businesses.
Requirements
  • Relevant Professional Experience: Two to four years of experience in digital-asset regulatory compliance, financial-services licensing, legal or compliance operations, regulatory consulting, or a related field.
  • Licensing and Authorization Expertise: Practical experience supporting a Web3 licensing or authorization process for a CASP, VASP, token issuer, or similar digital-asset business. Direct experience with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), VARA, ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), DFSA, or other European Union or United Arab Emirates regulatory frameworks is particularly valuable.
  • Web3 and Blockchain Knowledge: Practical understanding of blockchain networks, cryptocurrency wallets, custody arrangements, exchanges, digital-asset transfers, token issuance, stablecoins, and common digital-asset business models.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge: Working knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to corporate governance, operational risk, consumer protection, technology, cybersecurity, and AML/CFT, with the ability to apply these principles to digital-asset businesses.
  • Regulatory Analysis and Documentation: Strong ability to interpret complex regulatory texts, map obligations to appropriate controls, prepare clear documentation, and develop practical compliance recommendations.
  • Project Coordination and Delivery: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate stakeholders, gather supporting evidence, manage dependencies, track deadlines, and deliver multiple workstreams within agreed project parameters.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Professional written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate complex regulatory concepts clearly to clients, senior management, technical specialists, and other stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Mindset: Ability to collaborate effectively with cybersecurity, AML, product, and engineering teams, connecting regulatory expectations with technical and operational implementation.
  • Adaptability and Ownership: A proactive, detail-oriented, and reliable approach to work, with the ability to learn quickly, solve problems independently, and thrive in a dynamic international environment.
  • Additional Qualifications: A relevant degree, professional qualification, or certification in law, compliance, risk management, accounting, or information security is an advantage. Additional European or Middle Eastern language skills are also desirable.
  • Working Hours and Location: Ability to work remotely from outside the United States, preferably from Europe or a nearby time zone, with reliable availability during Central European Time (CET) and Central European Summer Time (CEST) business hours.
Benefits
  • Remote Work Flexibility: Work remotely from Europe, or a nearby time zone, provided you can maintain regular overlap with European business hours.
  • Competitive Compensation: Receive a competitive base salary, with equity or token-based options where applicable.
  • International Regulatory Exposure: Gain hands-on experience with digital-asset licensing and authorization projects across the European Union, the United Arab Emirates, and other international markets.
  • Professional Development: Deepen your expertise in Web3 regulation, digital-asset compliance, and emerging licensing frameworks through practical client engagements and collaboration with experienced specialists.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside professionals in cybersecurity, AML, product development, and engineering to deliver integrated regulatory and technical solutions.
  • Innovation and Impact: Contribute to the development of regulatory services, compliance tools, and scalable methodologies that help digital-asset businesses navigate evolving legal requirements.
  • International Work Environment: Join a distributed team operating across global markets at the intersection of blockchain security, technology, and regulatory compliance.
  • Employment Type: Remote position. The role must be performed outside the United States; candidates working from within the U.S. cannot be considered.
