Job summary

Zurich Instruments AG in Zürich invites an experienced System Testing leader to shape and grow our test ecosystem for multi‑hardware/software systems. You will lead a six‑person team, drive test strategy, and collaborate with product management and engineering to improve stability and quality.

The role emphasizes people development, tool selection (including AI), and roadmapping for system testing and SW quality across our QPU control platforms, ensuring reliability for customers and researchers

Qualifications

• Strong focus on SW and test development in Python.
• 3+ years of team leadership.
• 3+ years testing systems with HW/FW/SW.
• Degree in SW/EE or equivalent.
• Familiar with Firmware, HW, and lab test equipment.
• ISTQB Advanced Level Test Management (CTAL-TM) or comparable.
• Outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Analytical and detail‑oriented.

Responsibilities

• Lead the System Testing Team consisting of six highly skilled system verification engineers.
• Drive all aspects of people development in close collaboration with ZI’s HR team.
• Shape our roadmap for system testing and SW quality and drive its implementation, including tool selection and testing processes.
• Align with stakeholders of SW quality, including product management, agile development teams, and Engineering Productivity Team.
• Grow system stability and software quality of our products.

Your responsibilities

• Lead the System Testing Team consisting of six highly skilled system verification engineers.
• Drive all aspects of people development in close collaboration with ZI’s HR team
• You shape our roadmap for system testing and SW quality and drive its implementation. This may include the selection of tools (including AI) and processes, setting test strategies, assessing the test coverage, as well as training.
• You align with all the stakeholders of SW quality, including product management, the agile development teams, and our Engineering Productivity Team.
• In short, you further grow the system stability and software quality of our products.

Your profile

• Strong focus on SW and test development in Python.
• At least 3 years of experience in team leadership.
• At least 3 years of practical experience in testing systems based on specialized HW, FW, and SW.
• BSc, MSc, or PhD in SW- or Electrical Engineering, or in an equivalent field.
• Familiar with aspects of Firmware, specialized HW, and laboratory test equipment.
• ISTQB Advanced Level Test Management (CTAL-TM) or comparable qualification
• Outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
