Job summary

Rayner is expanding its R&D team with a Test Engineer role based on-site at our Heerbrugg HQ in Switzerland. You will develop test concepts, integrate hardware rigs and software verification, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines within a fast-paced medical device environment.

You will define protocols, perform HIL and system-level validations, analyze data, and author verification reports while collaborating in cross-functional design reviews. Proficiency in German and English is required.

Qualifications

• Education in electronics or CS as stated.
• Experience in automated testing and programming (Python, LabVIEW).
• Experience in development projects (C/C++, measurement tech, embedded systems).
• German and English language proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop test concepts and strategies integrating hardware rigs, electronics and software verification.
• Define test protocols, sample sizes and acceptance criteria based on risk and data.
• Perform hardware-in-the-loop and system-level validations.
• Analyze test data, investigate anomalies and draft verification reports.
• Document and verify in line with medical device development guidelines.

Job description

We are expanding our R&D team at This AG - a Rayner Group Company! The Test Engineer position offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment and contribute to the development of our phaco technologies that make a real difference to patients around the world.

Please note this role is 100% and based on-site at our HQ in Heerbrugg, Switzerland.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Developing test concepts and strategies integrating hardware rig setups, mechanical fixtures, electronic circuits, and software verification to support CI/CD pipelines.
• Defining test protocols and test plans, determining appropriate sample sizes and acceptance criteria based on risk management, confidence levels, and historical data.
• Participating in cross-functional design reviews and perform rigorous hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and system-level validations.
• Rigorously analyzing test data and evaluation metrics against predefined acceptance criteria, perform root-cause analysis on anomalies, and author verification summary reports.
• Documentation and verification in accordance with medical device development guidelines

What Experience & Skills You Will Need:

• Education/level: Electronics technician, HF, FH or university degree in electronics or electrical engineering or computer science
• Experience in automated testing and corresponding programming languages (Python, LabView, …)
• Ideally experience in development projects (programming in C/C++, measurement technology, embedded systems, microcontrollers, MedTech)
• Languages: German and English, written and spoken
