Volpi Group in Dietikon, Switzerland, is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to strengthen our IT department. You will develop embedded software for optomechanical devices used in diagnostics and life sciences, defining requirements and organizing sprint activities.

The role requires hands-on expertise with ARM, C/C++, and RTOS/Linux environments, plus mentoring and collaboration across international teams. A strong engineering background and fluent English are essential for success.

Qualifikationen

• 10+ years of embedded software development (ARM)
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python; willingness to learn additional languages
• Experience writing drivers for sensors, motor controllers, cameras; IEC 62304 familiarity is a plus
• Experience with RTOS (Zephyr a plus) and Embedded Linux is a plus
• Ability to work independently with strong personal responsibility and reliability
• Fluent in English (verbal and written)

We are expanding the ITdepartment and hiring for our Dietikon location a Senior Embedded Software Engineer (m/w) – 100 %

What you can expect:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our expanding development department at our Dietikon location. In this role you are developing embedded software for optomechanical devices used in diagnostics and life sciences applications. You will work closely with our engineering and product development teams to define software requirements and organize software activities within sprints.

You will be responsible for the detailed software architecture, write and test code for microcontrollers, integrate sensors and actuators, and implement communication protocols, while providing technical guidance to internal and external developers. You also contribute to shape development best practices and support the growth of less experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities:

• Propose and evaluate design approaches, define module interfaces, and ensure the software architecture supports projects’ goals
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and specifications
• Organize software development activities within the sprint cycle, working with both internal and external developers
• Design, develop, and test embedded systems for optomechanical devices according to IEC 62304
• Support the technical development of colleagues through mentoring, code reviews and coaching
• Support in the further development of our development processes, tooling and toolchains

What you bring:

• 10+ years of experience in the development of embedded software (ARM)
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles
• Strong programming skills in C,C++, python, and willing to learn further programming languages if required.
• Experience with writing drivers for peripherals like sensors, motor controllers, cameras, etc.
• Experience in the development of medical or IVD products is an advantage, ideally according to IEC 62304
• Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (Zephyr is a plus)
• Experience with Embedded Linux is a plus
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, with a strong sense of personal responsibility and reliability
• Proficiency in English both in verbal and written form
• Willingness to embrace and adapt to emerging technologies and continuously expand knowledge
