LEM Surgical AG in Bern, Switzerland, is seeking a Systems & Field Engineer to join our MedTech team. You will work directly with surgeons and hospitals across Europe and the USA, traveling up to 35% of your time, to bring our robotic platform into clinical practice and drive ongoing improvements.

You will collaborate with hardware and software engineers on integration, calibration, verification, and testing, while ensuring compliance with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and IEC 60601 during development

Qualifikationen

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.
  • At least three years in Systems/Design/Field Engineering, preferably in medical devices.
  • Experience with electromechanical or robotic systems in clinical or customer settings.
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601, ISO 13485, ISO 14971.
  • Willingness to travel up to 35% and valid driver''s license.

Aufgaben

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams through development, integration, verification, and validation of complex electromechanical systems.
  • Work with hardware and software engineers for system integration, calibration, qualification, and troubleshooting.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support verification/validation activities ensuring quality and risk management and compliance with medical device standards.
  • Support product releases, design transfer, configuration management, and DHF documentation.
  • Plan and support customer installations, clinical procedures, and user training.
  • Analyze field performance and translate customer feedback into product improvements.
  • Provide on-site support during installations and clinical evaluations across the USA and Europe.

We are looking for a Systems & Field Engineer who enjoys combining systems engineering with hands-on clinical support. This is a unique opportunity to work directly with surgeons and hospitals across Europe and the USA while traveling internationally for up to 35% of your time. You will play a key role in bringing our robotic platform into clinical practice and continuously improving it through real-world feedback.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the development, integration, verification, and validation of complex electromechanical systems.
  • Work closely with hardware and software engineers to perform system integration, calibration, qualification testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support verification and validation activities while contributing to product quality, risk management, and compliance with medical device standards (ISO 13485 and ISO 14971).
  • Support product releases, design transfer, configuration management, and maintenance of Design History File (DHF) documentation.
  • Plan and support customer installations, clinical procedures, and user training, providing technical guidance to clinical users and commercial teams.
  • Analyze field performance, conduct root cause investigations, and translate customer and clinical feedback into product improvements.
  • Provide on-site support during customer installations, operating room procedures, clinical evaluations, and commercial deployments across the USA and Europe.
Your Profile:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical & ElectronicsEngineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • At least three years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Design Engineer, Field Engineer, or in a comparable role, ideally within the medical device industry.
  • Experience developing, integrating, or supporting complex electromechanical or robotic systems, ideally in clinical or customer environments.
  • Good understanding of medical device standards, including IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
  • Familiarity with robotics, systems engineering, system integration, and electrical and electromechanical design, including sensors, motors, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive, structured, and hands-on approach.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for up to 35% of the time, along with a valid driver's license and eligibility for international travel.
