Job summary

ITech Consult AG hires a System Engineer – IT/OT, focusing on systems engineering for manufacturing environments and network engineering (LAN/VLAN/Firewalls). The role combines Windows/Linux server administration with OT systems, GMP compliance, and IVD/quality control alignment.

You work independently on IT/OT infrastructures, support troubleshooting across system, application, and network levels, and contribute to digital strategies while coordinating with IT teams and suppliers.

Qualifications

• 5 years of professional experience in systems engineering / IT administration / automation engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux server administration and network technology (LAN, VLAN, firewalls).
• Experience in a highly regulated environment (GxP/IVD) preferred.
• German and English skills required; interdisciplinary IT/OT exposure.

Responsibilities

• Administer IT/OT infrastructures (servers, clients, networks, virtualization environments, OT systems).
• Provide direct troubleshooting support at system, application, and network levels with Automation Engineers, Global IT, and suppliers.
• Implement corrective and preventive measures to improve OT/IT infrastructure and system stability.
• Support maintenance activities (patch management, updates) for local IT/OT systems.
• Assist commissioning activities from a systems engineering perspective.
• Create system documents (design specs, IT architecture diagrams, work instructions) and ensure GMP-aligned records.
• Monitor, incident management and lifecycle management of the server infrastructure (Active Directory, backup management, audit trails).
• Coordinate with IT team and participate in digital strategies and concepts.

System Engineer : IT/OT / Systems Engineering / Manufacturing / Windows/Linux), and Network Engineering (LAN, VLAN, Firewalls), OT Systems / Quality Control / GXP / Industry 4.0 / Operational Technology / OT / IVD English / German

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Independent work with and administration of IT/OT infrastructures (servers, clients, networks, virtualization environments, OT systems) for the execution of projects and maintenance work.
• Direct support for troubleshooting and problem solving at the system, application, and network levels in close coordination with Automation Engineers, Global IT, and suppliers.
• Implementation of corrective and preventive measures to improve OT/IT infrastructure and system stability
• Support and execution of maintenance activities (patch management, updates) for all local IT/OT systems.
• Support for commissioning activities from a systems engineering perspective (e.g., provision of servers, network connections for expansion or modernization projects)
• Creation of various system documents throughout the lifecycle (system design specification, IT architecture diagrams, work instructions) and ensuring their up-to-dateness in the GMP environment
• Monitoring, incident management and lifecycle management of the server infrastructure (including user management / Active Directory, backup management and audit trail reviews).
• Regular communication and coordination with the IT team.
• Participation in / co-development of digital strategies and concepts

Must-haves:

• Completed vocational training or further education in the field of computer science, systems engineering, IT infrastructure or a comparable field
• 5 years of professional experience in the field of systems engineering / IT administration / automation engineering
• Solid knowledge in the administration of server operating systems (Windows/Linux), and network technology (LAN, VLAN, firewalls), OT systems
• Professional experience in a highly regulated environment, preferably in the GxP environment or IVD sector
• Professional experience in IT/OT project work is an advantage.
• Good German and very good English skills are required.
• Interdisciplinary expertise at the interface of IT and production (Industry 4.0, Operational Technology / OT)
• Quick comprehension and analytical approach to complex system malfunctions
• Questioning conventional thinking patterns in IT operations
