University of Bern seeks a motivated student assistant in the Institute of Sociology to support teaching and research activities. You will prepare course materials, organise courses, and assist with data preparation and analysis.

You will also write short research briefs for a broader audience and support the social media team. The role is ideal for bachelor or master students with an interest in data science and programming.

Competenze

• Data science interest or experience with data is desirable.
• Experience with R, Stata or Python is an asset.
• Excellent English language skills are essential for teamwork.

Your tasks

Your profile

• You are a bachelor or master student at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences (Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftliche Fakultät). Bachelor students are enrolled in the second or third year of their programme; master students still have at least 60 ECTS to complete before the end of their degree.
• You have skills in, or a strong interest in, data science and working with data. Experience with R, Stata or Python is an asset.
• You speak several languages. Very good English is essential, as it is the main working language of our team; further languages are a plus.
• You have a talent for organisation and can keep track of several tasks at the same time.
• You work precisely and reliably and bring a high degree of self-motivation.
