Job summary

The World Economic Forum in Geneva seeks a Senior Associate, Research Institutions, to manage a defined portfolio of more than 30 research institutions and scientific organizations. You will build trusted relationships, identify opportunities for collaboration, and translate knowledge into strategic insights across Forum programmes and initiatives.

You will lead thematic or geographical workstreams, coordinate with Centres and regional teams, and oversee visits, briefings and engagement

Qualifications

• University degree required; a master's degree, particularly in a scientific or research-related discipline, is an asset.
• 4-6 years relevant professional experience within or working closely with the global scientific, research, higher education or knowledge ecosystem.
• Experience working with a scientific organization, research institution, laboratory, university, academy, think tank or similar body.
• Experience independently managing external stakeholder relationships, including engagement with senior institutional or subject-matter leaders.
• Strong analytical, research and synthesis skills; ability to translate complex information into practical insights.
• Ability to lead defined projects or workstreams with multiple stakeholders and timelines.
• Sound judgement with ability to work with limited supervision and escalation when needed.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English for senior audiences.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills in an international, matrixed environment.
• Willingness to undertake periodic international travel.

Responsibilities

• Manage a defined portfolio of more than 30 research institutions and scientific organizations, building trusted relationships and understanding each institution's priorities.
• Develop and deliver tailored engagement plans connecting institutions to Forum programmes, communities, meetings and initiatives.
• Build understanding of scientific ecosystems and translate insights into practical recommendations for Forum colleagues.
• Identify and connect institutions, researchers and experts with Forum activities to foster diverse, high-quality expertise.
• Lead defined thematic or geographical workstreams, planning and delivering with timelines, risks and dependencies.
• Coordinate with Centres, regional teams, initiatives and events to understand needs and support integrated engagement.
• Plan and deliver institutional visits, expert consultations, workshops, and prepare agendas, briefings and materials.
• Maintain accurate institutional information in Forum systems and suggest improvements to portfolio management and engagement.
• Contribute to high-quality delivery and cross-Forum collaboration, reflecting in strong institutional relationships and ecosystem insights.
