Sonova Group is seeking a Sound Quality Engineer to develop and optimize audiological features across hearing solutions. You will work with R&D teams and marketing to translate technologies into measurable end-user benefits and superior hearing experiences.

You will parameterize device functions using MATLAB, Simulink, or Python, optimize performance for speech and sound quality, and apply AI methods to enhance audiological features.

Qualifikationen

• Higher-level degree in science or engineering (Electrical Engineering, Physics, Acoustics, Biomedical Engineering, or comparable).
• Strong knowledge in sound engineering, signal processing, acoustics, audiology, or electro-acoustic.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in engineering, acoustics, signal processing, or related R&D.
• Proficient with MATLAB, Python, XML, and audio editing tools (e.g., Adobe Audition, ProTools, Reaper).
• Curious, proactive, and solution-oriented with strong analytical thinking and sound judgment.
• Collaborative, reliable, and able to build cross-team relationships.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Aufgaben

• Develop and maintain hearing device features for user benefits and listening experiences.
• Parameterize functions using MATLAB, Simulink or Python; optimize for speech intelligibility and sound quality.
• Apply AI methods to develop audiological features and evaluate sound performance of DNN-based solutions.
• Build firmware and measure performance in acoustic labs and test setups; provide evidence-backed metrics.
• Define metrics and tests for sound quality and feature performance evaluation.
• Create audio recordings and stimuli for device testing.
• Conduct experiments with subjects to understand subjective performance in real-world scenarios.
• Contribute to feature integration and system verification; provide expert feedback on sound performance.
• Collaborate with audiological research, signal processing, AI, data insights, software engineering and other R&D teams.
• Support marketing with improvement ideas, claims metrics, competitive intelligence, and sound-demo setups.

As a Sound Quality Engineer, you will be developing audiological features, evaluating, optimizing, and verifying the sound quality and performance of Sonova's hearing solutions.

Working closely with experts across R&D teams and the marketing department, you will translate innovative technologies into measurable end-user benefits and excellent hearing experiences that improve the lives of millions.

More about the role:

• Develop and maintain hearing device features to deliver exceptional user benefits and outstanding listening experiences.
• Parameterize hearing device functions using MATLAB, Simulink or Python and optimize performance to meet speech intelligibility and sound quality requirements.
• Use AI methods and tools to develop and optimize audiological features and evaluate sound performance of DNN-based solutions.
• Build firmware images and measure performance of hearing devices in an acoustic test box, a fully equipped acoustic lab (with KEMAR), or a dedicated electrical audio setup and provide evidence-backed performance metrics.
• Define the metrics and evaluation methods and develop tests for sound quality and feature performance evaluation.
• Create audio recordings with hearing devices and dedicated equipment to prepare stimuli for device testing.
• Conduct experiments with subjects to understand subjective performance in real-world scenarios.
• Contribute to feature integration and system verification activities, conduct tests and provide expert feedback on device sound performance.
• Closely collaborate with audiological research, signal processing, AI, data insights, software engineering, and other R&D teams.
• Support the marketing department by providing improvement ideas, claims metrics, conducting competitive intelligence studies and preparing technical setups for sound demos.

Must-have:

• Higher-level degree in science or engineering (Electrical Engineering, Physics, Acoustics, Biomedical Engineering, or a comparable technical or scientific discipline).
• Strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas: sound engineering, signal processing, acoustics, audiology, or electro-acoustic.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in engineering, acoustics, signal processing, or a comparable R&D environment.
• Skilled in one or more of the following tools: MATLAB, Python, XML, Audio editing tools (e.g. Adobe Audition, ProTools, Reaper or similar).
• Intellectually curious, proactive, and solution-oriented, with strong analytical thinking and sound judgment.
• Collaborative, reliable, and fun to work with, building trust and strong relationships across teams.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Nice to have:

• Experience within the medical device industry or other regulated development environments.
• Experience in hearing technology or audiology-related products.
• Skilled in AI tool for sound engineering or signal processing
