Job summary

CDDS is seeking a hands-on software engineer to secure our embedded Linux devices and ground systems. You will implement provisioning, authentication, key management, and secure updates while maintaining tools and tests on real hardware.

The role emphasizes translating security requirements into practical technical solutions and contributing to compliance documentation from a technical perspective. You will work closely with security leads and hardware teams to balance performance with security

Qualifications

• Strong software development skills in Python and/or C++.
• Experience securing embedded Linux systems.
• Practical knowledge of encryption, secure boot, access control, and device security.
• Experience with hardware backed key storage, like TPMs.

You want to help build the Western resilience and protect people and critical infrastructure. At CDDS, you'll help secure the software behind our next-generation interceptor drones.

We're looking for a hands-on software engineer who understands embedded security and US security requirements. You'll complement our existing cloud security expertise by implementing security on our devices and supporting compliance documentation from a technical perspective.

What You Will Do

• Write and maintain software that secures our embedded Linux devices and ground systems.
• Implement secure provisioning, authentication, key management, and software updates.
• Translate security requirements into practical technical solutions alongside our security and compliance lead.
• Identify vulnerabilities, implement fixes, and verify that security measures work on real hardware.
• Support compliance work with technical documentation and evidence of implemented controls.

Requirements

• Strong software development skills in Python and/or C++.
• Experience securing embedded Linux systems.
• Practical knowledge of encryption, secure boot, access control, and device security.
• Ability to balance security requirements with performance, reliability, and operational needs.
• experience for hardware backed key storage, like TPMs

Nice to have

• Experience supporting security compliance or assessments.
• Familiarity with US cybersecurity requirements relevant to defense suppliers.
• CCP certification.
• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded platforms.
• Experience with yocto
• Experience with embedded penetration testing
• NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC familiarity
