Job summary

SGI in Basel, Switzerland is seeking a Software Engineer who can take ownership of tasks and deliver stable, incremental changes frequently within a financial services context. The role requires based in Switzerland or willingness to relocate.

Key duties include contributing to the Risk IT micro-services stack in C#, refactoring a legacy .NET Framework codebase toward .NET Core and OpenShift, assisting with a Cloudera-based Data Lake, and implementing Kafka-based interfaces with banking IT

Job description

We are looking for a Software Engineer who can take ownership of tasks, deliver stable, incremental changes frequently.

Previous experience in the financial services or related industry is essential, as is a familiarity with a least one domain of financial products (eg. fixed income, equities, foreign exchange).

This is a 12 month contract and successful candidates must be based in Switzerland or willing to relocate.

Tasks:

• Contribute to the continued development of the Risk IT micro-services stack in C#
• Refactor and break down a legacy .NET Framework codebase into smaller components for migration to .NET Core and eventually OpenShift containers
• Assist in transitioning to a Cloudera-based Data Lake platform
• Replace legacy interfaces to Banking IT systems with a Kafka-based streaming architecture
• Participate in rotating support (during the business day) to ensure the stability and performance of our systems

Must-Haves:

• Development experience in an Object-Oriented language such as C#, Java, or C++, with a willingness to work with C# and Python codebases.
• Knowledge of common algorithms, data structures, and design patterns, with the ability to demonstrate delivery skills
• Previous experience in the financial services industry.
• Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, etc
