Job summary

ITech Consult AG in Zurich seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to design and evolve a new virtualization platform. You will work on Linux servers and platform services, focusing on OpenShift or Kubernetes, automation, CI/CD, and API-driven self-service for other teams.

You will contribute to secure, automated infrastructure, incident analysis, and ongoing hardening and optimization of the environment, with about 40% remote work in a hybrid setup.

Qualifications

• German language proficiency at C2 level or equivalent is required.
• 5–8 years of hands-on DevOps/Platform or Linux engineering experience.
• Experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes in production environments.
• Proficiency with Git, containers, CI/CD pipelines, and IaC.
• Programming knowledge in Python or Go and able to develop maintainable automation.

Responsibilities

• Own lifecycle management of Linux-based server and platform infrastructure.
• Design, build, and improve a new virtualization platform.
• Automate server provisioning, patching, and decommissioning processes.
• Develop reusable automation services, APIs, and CLI tools.

Job description

For a bank in Zurich, we are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to build and further develop a new virtualization platform.

In this role, you will work in the Linux and platform environment on a modern, highly automated infrastructure. The focus is on Linux-based servers and platform services, Kubernetes or OpenShift, Infrastructure as Code, automation, CI/CD, as well as developing internal APIs and self-service functions for other teams.

Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for the lifecycle of Linux-based server and platform infrastructure
• Support the design and development of a new virtualization platform
• Operation, optimization, and continuous development of the platform environment
• Automation of the server lifecycle, including provisioning, patching, and decommissioning
• Development of reusable automation services, internal APIs, CLI tools, and service components
• Operation and further development of automation and orchestration tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
• Implementation of technical and organizational measures to reduce cyber risks
• Design and implementation of APIs for secure self-service access to infrastructure services
• Analysis and resolution of incidents, including systematic root cause analysis
• Sustainable improvement of automation, hardening, interfaces, and operational processes

Experience:

• 5 to 8 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, Linux Engineer, or in a comparable role
• Strong hands-on experience with OpenShift or Kubernetes
• Experience with Git, container technologies, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code
• Solid knowledge of at least one programming language such as Python or Go
• Ability to develop maintainable code for tools, interfaces, and automation
• Experience designing and implementing APIs, e.g. REST or OpenAPI
• Knowledge of authentication, authorization, logging, and monitoring is an advantage
• Experience with automation and configuration management frameworks such as Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet, Chef, or comparable tools
• Very good knowledge of Linux server and platform environments
• Understanding of cybersecurity requirements in infrastructure and platform operations
• Experience with incident analysis, root cause analysis, and sustainable problem resolution
• Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
