Zusammenfassung

CERN is seeking a software engineer to develop, test, and operate the OJS-based Open Research Europe platform. You will work under a senior engineer, contributing to the OJS application and its plugins, testing integrations with external services, and improving open-source components.

You will assist in deployment and maintenance of the CERN infrastructure using Kubernetes/OpenShift and automated CI/CD workflows, and participate in system testing and documentation of procedures.

Qualifikationen

• At most 2 years of professional experience since graduation.
• Highest education is a bachelor’s or master’s degree; a PhD is not allowed.
• Citizen of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State; nationality restrictions apply.
• No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract.

You will contribute to developing, deploying, and maintaining the application supporting the Open Research Europe publishing platform based on Open Journal Systems (OJS). Working under the guidance of a senior engineer, you will develop, test, and operate the platform and its integrations to ensure secure and reliable service delivery in close collaboration with the business and editorial operations team.

Your responsibilities

• Contribute to developing the OJS application and plugins, testing integrations with external services.
• Contribute improvements to open-source projects such as OJS and related components.
• Assist in the deployment and maintenance of the Open Research Europe infrastructure using Kubernetes/OpenShift and automated CI/CD workflows.
• Participate in system testing, performance checks, documentation of procedures, and day-to-day operational support.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

• You are a national of aCERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani, Lithuanian, Latvian, Cypriot and Croatian nationals, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
• By the application deadline, you have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience since graduation in the respective field and your highest educational qualification is either a bachelor’s or master’s degree. You must have a university degree and can’t hold a PhD.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
