Job summary

Augmedi in Zollikon near Zurich seeks an experienced AI/ML software engineer to build platform features and bring AI agents into the product, while fine-tuning models for medical learning content in collaboration with the Engineering Lead.

You will implement features from the TypeScript frontend to the Azure Kubernetes Service backend, develop MCP-based agents, convert learning content into datasets, run fine-tuning experiments, and help enhance the team's development practices with reusable

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, data science, electrical engineering, physics or a related field (ETH Zurich or comparable).
• Fluent in German or English.
• Proficient in TypeScript and/or Python with demonstrable projects or code.
• Hands-on ML experience, e.g. PyTorch; fine-tuning/LLMs a plus.
• Strong data modelling and relational database knowledge.
• Independent, proactive contributor to technical decisions and clear communicator.

Job description

Build new platform features, bring AI agents into the product and fine-tune models for medical learning content, working directly with our Engineering Lead.

What you'll do

• Implement features end to end, from the TypeScript frontend to the backend on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including testing, code reviews and deployments via GitHub Actions
• Bring AI agents into the product: build MCP-based agents and tools for admin functions and customers, and assess their reliability with systematic evaluations
• Turn learning content and annotations into datasets, run fine-tuning experiments and compare results against clear metrics and baselines
• Improve our development process with coding agents: test and integrate workflows, conventions and reusable skills for the whole team
• Design and migrate data models for content, annotations and usage data, with Swiss data residency in mind

What you bring

• Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, data science, electrical engineering, physics or a related field (ETH Zurich or comparable)
• Confident in TypeScript and/or Python, with your own projects or code to show
• Practical machine learning experience, e.g. with PyTorch; first experience with fine-tuning or LLMs is a plus
• Solid grasp of data modelling and relational databases
• Independent way of working, contributing to technical decisions and explaining your thinking clearly
• Very good German or English

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM agents, tool use, MCP or evaluations; Kubernetes, Azure and CI/CD; computer vision or 3D reconstruction (e.g. Gaussian Splatting or NeRF); and an interest in medicine or medical education. Industry experience and medical expertise are not required.
