Job summary

Exoscale in Europe (remote within EU) is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer focusing on observability and databases. You will design, implement, and maintain our visibility stack and database platforms, ensuring high availability and scalable performance across the Exoscale platform.

You will collaborate with a distributed team across Europe, participate in on-call rotations after training, and contribute to automation, tuning, and incident response.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of experience in site reliability, observability, or databases.
• Strong Linux system administration knowledge.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container deployments.
• Go programming language proficiency and distributed systems understanding.
• Knowledge of MariaDB, Kafka, Cassandra, FoundationDB or ClickHouse.
• Automation and configuration management skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve our visibility stack (Mimir, VictoriaMetrics vmagent).
• Design a scalable, highly available infrastructure.
• Contribute to automation and orchestration to reduce manual work.
• Tune processes for scalability and reliability of the platform.
• Participate in on-call rotations after training.
• Assist in maintaining our databases platforms.

As part of its ongoing efforts to grow its infrastructure footprint Exoscale is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer.

The site reliability engineer plays a critical role in ensuring constant availability of the Exoscale platform. The engineering team at Exoscale works on all aspects from designing & developing products, to their operation and support.

With an expanding customer base and new products to further advance Exoscale's product portfolio, site reliability engineers build and maintain a wide range of technologies. As users of Exoscale itself, site reliability engineers also take active part in improving products.

This position focuses on designing, developing and maintaining Exoscale's visibility platform and helps maintain our database platforms.

Some of the challenges you will be working on:

• Maintain, optimize and evolve our visibility stack, including VictoriaMetrics vmagent, Mimir.
  
• Designing a scalable platform is a must.
  
• Take part in automation and orchestration efforts to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
  
• Improve processes to ensure scalability, reliability, and high availability of our infrastructure.
  
• Join the on-call rotation after completing a training period.
  
• Help also in maintaining our databases platforms ( MariaDB, Cassandra, FoundationDB, ClickHouse)
  

Ideal candidates are:

• Proficient with Mimir/Prometheus and VictoriaMetrics vmagent ( or equivalent )
  
• Experienced with Linux and have a deep understanding of systems administration.
  
• Experienced with Kubernetes and deployment of applications
  
• Proficient in Go programming language and understands distributed systems principles
  
• Knowledgeable with MariaDB, Kafka, Cassandra, FoundationDB or ClickHouse
  
• Skilled in configuration management and managing large-scale infrastructure.
  
• Passionate about automation. Looking for ways to optimize workflows and reduce manual effort.
  
• Team players who thrive in a distributed team environment.
  
• Curious, autonomous, and eager to learn new technologies every day.
  
• Strong communicators in English, both written and spoken.
