Job summary

mimic, a deep tech robotics and AI start-up based in Zurich, seeks a hands-on Staff/Senior Systems Engineer to evolve our robotics and AI stack into a scalable, production-grade platform. You will sit at the heart of cloud, AI and fleet software integration at our Zurich HQ and own core system architecture and fleet infrastructure.

You will collaborate with research, AI infra, robotics and hardware teams to define interfaces, implement end-to-end reliability, and push for CI/CD standards,

Qualifications

• Experience designing distributed systems at scale and clear trade-off reasoning.
• Shipped and operated software on fleets of physical devices (robots, IoT, etc).
• Hands-on with CI/CD, release engineering and infrastructure-as-code.
• Proficient in systems languages (C++/Rust/Go) plus Python and algorithms.
• Ability to own a system end-to-end and align researchers, robotics and hardware teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect the fleet: design end-to-end system connecting stations into a managed fleet with scalable provisioning and connectivity.
• Move petabytes from edge to cloud: build data pipelines for multi-modal robot data with limited bandwidth.
• Ship software to robots safely: own OTA updates with staged rollouts and automatic rollback.
• Make the fleet observable: central telemetry, monitoring and alerting.
• Raise the operational bar: enforce testing, CI/CD, releases and incident response.
• Write the hot paths: implement performance-critical components like data transport and on-device agents.
• Integrate across teams: define interfaces between research, AI infra, robotics, and hardware.
