The Senior System & Network Engineer will own run of IT infrastructure across ZRH and GVA, delivering modernization projects while ensuring stability, security and cost-efficiency in a 24/7 setting.

Qualifikationen

• 5+ years as System Engineer, Network Engineer or similar, with end-to-end infrastructure ownership
• Deep hands-on expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID and the M365 / cloud environment
• Proven experience with virtualization, storage and backup / disaster recovery, including migration projects
• Solid networking and firewall know-how (CCNA level or equivalent); scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell) and a structured, documentation-driven way of working
• Certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, VMware) and a degree in Computer Science or comparable are a plus; aviation or ground handling experience is a bonus, not a requirement
• Strong communication skills in English and German; readiness to work on-site at Zurich Airport and share stand-by (Pikett) duties with the team

Aufgaben

• Deliver the infrastructure projects of our roadmap – firewall replacements, full network redesign and VMware to KVM migration
• Act as 3rd level escalation point for IT Support and Application Support, with coaching and knowledge transfer
• Keep the environment secure: standards, checks and vulnerability remediation with Emirates Group cyber security operations centre
• Evaluate new technologies, shape replacement and upgrade decisions and contribute to vendor and contract management

Your responsibilities

• Administer and develop our Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID, virtualization, storage and backup environment across ZRH and GVA
• Own, administer and further develop the network environment: firewalls, switching, VLAN design and segmentation, wifi and VOIP, in coordination with the airport providers
• Deliver the infrastructure projects of our roadmap – among them firewall replacements, a full network redesign and a hypervisor migration from VMware to KVM
• Act as 3rd level escalation point for our IT Support and Application Support colleagues, with coaching and knowledge transfer as part of the role
• Keep the environment secure: security standards, regular checks and vulnerability remediation, in cooperation with the Emirates Group cyber security operations centre
• Evaluate new technologies, shape replacement and upgrade decisions and contribute to vendor and contract management

Your mission

You own the run of our IT infrastructure across both stations (Geneva & Zurich) – servers, virtualization, storage, backup, network and firewalls – and you deliver the modernisation projects on our roadmap. You are the senior technical reference point of the team and you make sure the environment stays stable, secure and cost-efficient in a true 24/7 operational setting.

Your profile

• 5+ years as System Engineer, Network Engineer or similar, with end-to-end infrastructure ownership – ideally in an SME or operations-critical environment
• Deep hands-on expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory / Entra ID and the M365 / cloud environment
• Proven experience with virtualization, storage and backup / disaster recovery, including migration projects
• Solid networking and firewall know-how (CCNA level or equivalent); scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell) and a structured, documentation-driven way of working
• Certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, VMware) and a degree in Computer Science or comparable are a plus; aviation or ground handling experience is a bonus, not a requirement
