Job summary

Next Ventures in Zurich, Switzerland seeks an experienced RF & Tactical Communications Systems Engineer for a freelance engagement. You will develop, integrate and validate advanced radio communication systems and tactical IP networks, working across RF, antenna and networking domains.

The role involves design, testing and field deployment with customer collaboration. The position requires 5+ years in RF engineering or related fields, strong IP networking knowledge, and fluency in English

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in RF engineering, radio communications, antenna technology or network engineering.
• Strong knowledge of VHF/UHF radio systems and RF design.
• Excellent understanding of IP networking, routing and switching (OSPF, BGP, MPLS).

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate and optimise radio communication systems and tactical IP networks.
• Design system architectures, HLD/LLD documentation and technical specifications.
• Work on VHF/UHF radio communication and tactical data links.
• Support RF, antenna and communication system modelling and simulation.
• Configure and optimise IP networks, including routing, switching, VLANs and QoS.
• Perform system integration, RF testing, performance analysis and troubleshooting.
• Plan and execute laboratory and field testing, including FAT/SAT.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Support commissioning and deployment activities on site.

Hi, I'm currently looking for a Systems Engineer – Radio Communications & Antenna.

We are currently seeking an experienced RF & Tactical Communications Systems Engineer to support the development, integration and validation of advanced radio communication systems and tactical IP networks.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex communication architectures, combining RF engineering, radio systems, secure networking and systems integration.

Your Responsibilities

Your Technical Background

• Strong knowledge of VHF/UHF radio systems and RF design.
• Excellent understanding of IP networking, routing and switching (OSPF, BGP, MPLS).
• Experience with RF measurement equipment such as spectrum analysers and VNAs.
• Familiarity with simulation tools such as CST, HFSS or MATLAB.
• Experience in defence, military communications, tactical networking or safety-critical environments is highly desirable.
• Excellent English communication skills. German is a plus.
