Job summary

Syngenta Group, via Syngenta Crop Protection, seeks a senior Software Engineer with deep Python expertise to build production-grade internal platforms and developer tools. You will apply AI pragmatically, with RAG-based search and conversational capabilities over internal documentation, while ensuring security, scalability and reliability.

You will design, implement and maintain Python services, libraries and templates, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, science and engineering

Qualifications

• Strong production-level Python proficiency; Java experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain production-grade Python services, libraries and developer tools.
• Apply modern Python practices: packaging, typing, async programming and API design.
• Create shared libraries, service templates and engineering standards for multiple teams.
• Build AI-enabled capabilities, including RAG-based search and conversational solutions over internal documentation.
• Define robust evaluation approaches for AI features balancing usefulness, reliability, security and cost.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native delivery using Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform.
• Establish testing, code quality, documentation-as-code and secure software practices.
• Improve performance, scalability and reliability through profiling and observability measures.
• Implement monitoring, alerting and operational standards for platform services.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.
• Partner with engineering, product and science stakeholders to translate needs into scalable technical solutions.
