Job summary

Stadler Rail AG in Switzerland seeks an experienced project/program manager to lead ETCS onboard system integration programs. You will coordinate complex engineering and commercial activities across sales, delivery and warranty, ensuring safety, quality and customer satisfaction.

You will influence project strategies, manage risks and dependencies, and mentor cross-functional teams while traveling 10–25% to support international projects.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics)
• Extensive experience in project or program management within complex engineering or railway environments
• Proven track record delivering complex multidisciplinary projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, quality
• Strong knowledge of railway standards and regulations (TSI CCS, UNISIG, CENELEC)
• Experience with ETCS onboard systems and railway signaling is a strong advantage

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical and commercial management of ETCS onboard system integration projects and programs
• Manage projects throughout their full lifecycle, from Sales handover to the warranty end
• Ensure achievement of project objectives relating to schedule, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction
• Define execution strategies and coordinate all project activities to ensure successful delivery
• Monitor and control project financial performance, including forecasting, costs, revenues, and profitability
• Ensure contractual compliance and provide accurate and timely project reporting
• Lead, motivate, and develop cross-functional project teams
• Coach and mentor project managers and new team members
• Drive continuous improvement of project management methodologies, tools, governance, and ways of working
• Contribute to development and maturity of PMO standards, processes, and operational excellence
• Support strategic business objectives by improving overall project and organizational performance

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

• University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or similar).
• Extensive experience in project or program management within complex engineering or railway environments.
• Proven track record in delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Strong knowledge of railway standards and regulations (e.g., TSI CCS, UNISIG, CENELEC).
• Experience with ETCS onboard systems and railway signaling is a strong advantage.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to coach and mentor project managers and drive knowledge sharing and best practices.
• Strategic, structured, and results-oriented mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and organizational development.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
• Fluent in English; German and additional languages are an asset.
• Willingness to travel (10-25%).
