Job summary

FMC Agricultural Solutions in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, is seeking a Senior Process Chemist to lead process innovations and scale-up for agrochemical ingredients within the AI Technical Center.

You will collaborate across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory and EHS to ensure robust, safe, cost-competitive processes, mentor junior staff, and support technology transfer from NPI through commercial production.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in chemistry; PhD preferred.
• 10+ years of industrial process chemistry experience, including development, optimization, and scale-up.
• Strong understanding of organic and process chemistry; hands-on lab, scale-up, and manufacturing support.
• Deep knowledge of process safety, reactive chemistry, and analytical techniques.
• Experience supporting technology transfer, NPI, and commercial manufacturing in cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead process innovation, optimization, and scale-up initiatives for capacity, yield, safety, and sustainability across FMC's portfolio.
• Collaborate with R&D during pilot campaigns, commissioning, validation, and start-up for new production.
• Support IP protection by developing differentiated manufacturing approaches and preserving knowledge.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product commercialization and reliable manufacturing performance.
• Establish and maintain technical standards and best practices for operational excellence.
• Mentor and develop colleagues, promoting technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
