Job summary

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is seeking a Policy Advisor to support and lead policy and research initiatives at HQ. The role focuses on developing analytical outputs, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and shaping policy with senior leadership.

You will contribute to multidisciplinary projects, coordinate editorial outputs, and help plan outreach with diverse partners in international humanitarian law and policy areas.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Development Studies or another relevant subject.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional experience including 2–3 years in humanitarian or policy sector.
• Experience communicating complex issues clearly, orally and in writing.
• Experience researching and developing policy positions and recommendations.
• Experience of advocacy or policy initiatives.
• Good understanding of international relations and humanitarian action.
• Fluency in English; French or other languages a plus.
• Good knowledge of IT programmes and digital engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develops policy briefs and analytical products on priority themes, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
• Contributes to longer-term research projects including literature reviews and partner identification.
• Supports coordination of editorial outputs and review cycles.
• Supports coordination of the HAA network and external policy overview.
• Organizes policy and diplomatic outreach events and NGO policy dialogues.
• Assists in preparations for major multilateral conferences with key messages and briefing packs.
• Drafts speaking and briefing materials for senior leaders.
