Senior PCB Layout Engineer: High-Density RF/HDI

Job summary

Viasat in Lausanne, Switzerland, is seeking a Layout Engineer to join the hardware team. You will design and lay out complex PCBs, ensuring SI/PI, EMC, thermal, and manufacturability requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.

As part of a multidisciplinary engineering group, you will own the layout cycle from concept to production, create footprints and libraries, and collaborate with electrical, RF, mechanical, and manufacturing teams. A minimum of 5 years in PCB layout is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of PCB layout experience for complex products.
• Strong schematic capture and layout implementation skills.
• Experience with HDI, dense routing, and stack-ups.
• Familiarity with DFM, DFA and PCB manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in scripting and AI-assisted engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the PCB layout development cycle from concept through production release.
• Design high-density, high-speed, mixed-signal, RF and power PCBs.
• Create and maintain footprints, symbols, and library components.
• Define stack-ups and routing strategies ensuring SI/PI/EMC and manufacturability.
• Perform constraint-driven PCB layout using ECAD tools.
• Collaborate with electrical, RF, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers.
• Support prototype bring-up, testing, and design verification.
• Coordinate with PCB manufacturers and assembly suppliers.
• Create and maintain design documentation and release packages.
• Contribute to design processes, rules, libraries, and automation initiatives.
