Clera is hiring for an engineering role in Zürich to build and maintain researcher-facing applications and backend services. You will contribute across the stack, from UI to APIs and data models, ensuring scalable, robust workflows for large datasets.

Join an engineering team building applications that help researchers and domain experts create, review, and analyze research data. Your work will support research workflows through user-facing tools and backend services.
Build interfaces for writing tasks, reviewing files and video, inspecting agent actions, and comparing experimental results.
Develop APIs and PostgreSQL data models for tasks, reviews, files, and experiments.
Connect applications to data pipelines and file storage, with input validation, permission controls, and clear error handling.
Work with researchers to improve workflows, investigate bugs, and maintain performance as datasets grow.
At least 3 years of experience building and maintaining applications used by others.
Strong skills in TypeScript and React, or Python with a backend framework such as FastAPI, and willingness to work across the stack.
Experience designing APIs and working with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
A practical approach to testing, debugging, and incorporating user feedback.
Experience with annotation tools, research software, or large-dataset exploration is a plus.
Familiarity with AWS, S3, background jobs, or frontend testing frameworks such as Playwright is valuable.
