In order to continue to successfully support our clients, we are currently looking for a Senior Manager DSP.
Your Mission
In this senior manufacturing leadership position, you will be responsible for the performance and operational activities of a Downstream Processing (DSP) manufacturing unit within a biopharmaceutical environment.
You will lead a multidisciplinary organization bringing together Process Engineers, Manufacturing Specialists, Shift Team Leads and Biotechnologists, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient manufacturing operations while meeting quality and delivery expectations.
As part of the Manufacturing Leadership Team, you will combine people leadership, DSP manufacturing expertise and operational excellence, while working closely with key functions across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary DSP manufacturing team, including responsibility for performance management, workforce planning, recruitment and talent development.
- Ensure the safe, GMP-compliant and efficient execution of DSP manufacturing operations and production campaigns, in line with quality and customer requirements.
- Take ownership of operational performance within the DSP area, including KPIs, manufacturing issues, resource planning and delivery performance.
- Drive continuous improvement, process standardization and operational excellence across the manufacturing organization.
- Ensure appropriate capacity, resource and training planning to maintain operational readiness and sustainable performance.
- Support the introduction and implementation of new technologies within manufacturing operations.
- Build strong collaboration with key interfaces including MSAT, Production Support, Quality and USP Operations, ensuring effective communication and escalation management.
- Represent Manufacturing during customer interactions, audits and regulatory inspections, supporting continuous inspection readiness.
- Maintain appropriate technical and quality oversight, including contribution to change controls, risk assessments, workplace inspections and GMP documentation.
- Act as the Manufacturing SME for CAPEX and facility expansion projects, providing operational input into facility design, automation, commissioning, qualification and operational readiness.
- Contribute actively to the Manufacturing Leadership Team and promote a culture based on safety, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Act as deputy to the Head of Operations when required, ensuring leadership and decision-making continuity.
Your Background
- MSc or equivalent degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, or a related scientific/engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in biotechnological manufacturing, for example within Bioprocess Engineering or Production Biotechnology.
- Strong understanding of biopharmaceutical manufacturing operations and DSP environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams within a manufacturing organization.
- Ability to manage operational performance against KPIs while balancing safety, quality, delivery and business priorities.
- Experience working across multiple functions and building effective relationships with technical, quality and operational stakeholders.
- Strong continuous improvement mindset with the ability to lead and support organizational and operational change.
- Customer-oriented approach and confidence representing Manufacturing with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong decision-making, communication and leadership capabilities in a complex manufacturing environment.
- Professional proficiency in English and German.
