We are looking for a Head of Downstream Processing (DSP) Manufacturing to lead a multidisciplinary organization responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of biopharmaceutical manufacturing campaigns.

As a member of the Manufacturing Leadership Team, you will combine scientific and technical expertise with strong people leadership and business acumen. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of DSP operations through operational excellence, continuous improvement, new technologies, and organizational development.

Your impact :

• Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team of process engineers, manufacturing specialists, shift leads, and biotechnologists, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous development.
• Own DSP manufacturing performance, ensuring safe, GMP-compliant, high-quality and on-time delivery of customer production campaigns.
• Drive operational excellence by leveraging performance data, solving complex manufacturing challenges, standardizing processes, and identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency.
• Build the organization for the future through workforce and capacity planning, talent development, training strategies, and adoption of new technologies.
• Connect people and functions, partnering closely with MSAT, Quality, USP Operations, Production Support, and other stakeholders to enable effective decision-making and rapid issue resolution.
• Represent manufacturing externally, including customer interactions, audits, and regulatory inspections, ensuring a strong culture of compliance and inspection readiness.
• Shape site strategy and investments by contributing manufacturing expertise to facility expansions, capital projects, automation, commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness.
• Influence beyond DSP, contributing to site-wide priorities as part of the Manufacturing Leadership Team and acting as deputy to the Head of Operations when required.

What you bring :

• MSc or equivalent in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific/technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, ideally across production biotechnology, downstream processing, or bioprocess engineering.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a GMP manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of DSP operations, manufacturing performance, quality, safety, and operational excellence.
• A strategic and pragmatic mindset, with the ability to translate business objectives into operational results.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through change, develop talent, and build high-performing and inclusive teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with a genuine customer-focused and collaborative approach.
• Fluency in English and German
