Job summary

Michael Page (Switzerland) is seeking an experienced accounting professional to own the general ledger and financial reporting for a major legal entity. The role involves preparing journal entries, close processes, and ensuring IFRS compliance in a fast-paced environment.

The successful applicant will have a degree in accounting or finance, at least 5 years in financial accounting, and strong Excel/ERP experience, with English fluency and German as a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting or general ledger accounting.
• Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting processes.
• Knowledge of Swiss GAAP and Swiss statutory accounting is advantageous.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, audits and financial controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
• Analytical, detail-oriented and solution-driven mindset.
• Able to work independently while building strong stakeholder relationships.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly.
• Fluent in English; German is considered a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Own the general ledger and financial reporting for the assigned entity.
• Prepare, review and post journal entries, accruals, provisions and period-end adjustments.
• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
• Coordinate accounting activities with AP, AR, Treasury, Banking and other finance teams.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
• Analyse financial results and explain key balance sheet and P&L movements.
• Prepare reporting packages for group consolidation and statutory requirements.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, internal controls and accounting policies.
• Maintain strong audit trails and supporting documentation.
• Act as a key contact for internal and external auditors.
• Drive process improvements, standardisation and data quality initiatives.
• Support finance projects, system enhancements and ad-hoc analysis
