Job summary

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) seeks a Senior Infrastructure Architect to lead end-to-end architecture across on‑prem and cloud. You will define target states, reusable patterns, and governance to ensure resilience, cost efficiency, and alignment with business priorities.

Qualifications

• Hybrid infrastructure design across on‑prem, private and public cloud with compute, storage and networks.
• Ability to define scalable, resilient and secure architecture aligned to technology strategy.
• Strong cloud-native and container platform knowledge, incl. OpenShift and integration patterns.
• Infrastructure automation, IaC principles, tooling and governance.
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and total cost of ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end infrastructure architecture for multi-domain initiatives with guardrails and patterns.
• Define policies, standards, roadmaps and advise on exceptions with justification.
• Lead engagement with senior stakeholders to align design with priorities and compliance.
• Translate needs into architectural principles and prioritised backlogs.
• Define secure-by-design patterns and validate DR/backups with tests; ensure audit alignment.
• Provide design authority across teams and oversee non‑functional testing strategies.
