Zusammenfassung

Fortil Lausanne is seeking a Hardware Engineer – Space Design & Test to lead the hardware lifecycle for space-grade electronic systems. You will design boards, perform validation, and collaborate with system, software, RF and manufacturing teams across multidisciplinary projects.

The role requires a degree in electronics or related field and at least 5 years in hardware design/validation, ideally in regulated aerospace environments. Fluency in English is required; French is a plus.

• Support industrialisation, production readiness and supplier interactions.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, qualification files and validation reports.
• Collaborate closely with system, software, mechanical, RF, manufacturing and industrialisation teams.

Reporting to a technical manager, you will join a multidisciplinary engineering team involved in the development and validation of advanced electronic systems for space applications. You will contribute to the full hardware lifecycle, from early architecture and board development through integration, testing and qualification.

Your profile

You hold an engineering degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems or a related field.

You have proven experience (from 5 years of experience) in electronic hardware design and/or hardware validation, ideally gained within the space, aerospace or another highly regulated and technically demanding environment.

Requirements

• Experience in analog, digital or mixed-signal electronic hardware development.
• Good understanding of PCB design, schematic development, component selection and layout reviews.
• Hands-on experience in board bring-up, debugging and hardware validation.
• Ability to define and execute hardware test and qualification procedures.
• Experience with PCBA testing and product-level validation.
• Ability to read, analyse and troubleshoot electronic schematics.
• Practical experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analysers, logic analysers and signal generators.
• Familiarity with PCB development tools such as Altium Designer or equivalent.
• Knowledge of communication interfaces such as Ethernet, USB, SPI, I²C, UART or LVDS.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Structured, analytical and solution-oriented mindset.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary and international environment.
• Fluent English; French is an asset.

Nice to have

• Exposure to ECSS, DO-254, DO-160 or other regulated development frameworks
• Experience with environmental testing: thermal cycling, vibration, TVAC, EMC/EMI
• Experience with high-speed interfaces: Ethernet, PCIe, DDR, LVDS, USB
• Experience with FPGA-based systems, RF electronics, optical systems or satellite payloads
