Introduction

The position is located in the International Labour Review Section (REVUE) of the ILO Research Department. The ILR is a leading multidisciplinary journal of labour market institutions and economics, published since 1921. It aims to advance research and inform policy through contributions from various disciplines.

Responsibilities
  1. Edit and finalize technical research papers and book reviews in English, ensuring high scholarly standards.
  2. Translate technical research papers from Spanish and French into English.
  3. Communicate with authors for approvals and clarifications.
  4. Summarize research in abstracts.
  5. Manage the publication process, including proofreading and final approval.
  6. Evaluate unsolicited manuscripts when required.
  7. Provide advice on editorial practices and develop guidelines.
  8. Stay updated on research developments within the ILO and internationally.
  9. Attend relevant meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: Advanced university degree in social sciences, languages, law, or equivalent experience.

Experience: At least seven years in editing, translating, or revising, with expertise in social and labour issues.

Languages: Excellent command of English; proficiency in Spanish and French.

Technical Skills

Deep knowledge of social and labour research, excellent editing and translation skills, ability to evaluate manuscripts, and familiarity with the organization’s policies. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines, with strong teamwork and communication skills. Willingness to learn and adapt.
