EH Group is seeking a Senior Control Engineer to lead the control team for containerized power systems integrating fuel cell technology. You will define architecture, develop control strategies, and ensure safe operation across thermal, air, fuel and power subsystems.
You will coordinate prototypes through MIL testing, oversee software lifecycle, and promote robust industrial methods with strong collaboration across disciplines. Fluency in English and French is required.
EHG is developing cutting-edge fuel cell technology for heavy duty mobility and large-scale stationary power applications. Our uniquely redesigned product is a significantly more compact fuel cell with high power density and lower costs of production. Faced with the challenges of climate change and the transition to a decentralised energy system, EHG seeks to provide high performance and cost-effective fuel cell solutions to our clients and partners.
To help bring this vision to life, we are looking for a Senior Control Engineer to coordinate our efforts in designing control strategies for containerized systems integrating our fuel cell technology alongside equipment such as gas reformers, batteries, and climate control units. You will coordinate the control team and play a key role in shaping how these complex, multi-equipment systems operate safely and efficiently in the field.
Coordinate the control engineering activities and define the control architecture and technical roadmap for our fuel cell and containerized power systems
Develop control strategies, models and algorithms for test-benches, fuel cell system and containerized power supply systems using Matlab/Simulink and Siemens PLCs
Coordinate the transition of prototype control algorithms from Simulink to industrial-quality code in TIA Portal Step 7
Implement, tune and validate controllers for thermal, air, fuel and power subsystems
Define and own control requirements, state machines and safety/diagnostic logic
Drive the continuous improvement (performance, efficiency and robustness) of our products
Define and oversee model-in-the-loop (MIL) testing and validation procedures
Manage the complete software life cycle, from requirements through release and maintenance, including dataset management
Establish coding standards, conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with industrial and certification requirements
Coordinate and develop the control team, including task planning and prioritization
Act as the main control interface with embedded, test and electrical engineering, as well as external partners and suppliers
BSc/MSc in control, electrical, mechatronic or automation engineering is mandatory
Minimum 7 years of experience in control engineering, including at least 2 years in a technical lead or senior role
Skill 1 : Strong experience in process control engineering, particularly with containerized power supply systems; knowledge of programming and implementing safety PLCs is a strong plus
Skill 2 : Strong experience with TIA Portal (Step 7, WinCC, Test Suite), with the ability to structure code to industrial standards and meet certification requirements
Experience with functional safety (e.g. IEC 61508, ISO 13849), including SIL/PL determination and implementation of safety functions
Experience across the complete V-model development cycle, including hazard and risk assessment, requirements definition, safety requirements specification (SRS), verification and validation, and dataset management
Experience with stationary and maritime power applications, with a focus on the US and EU markets and their respective standards and certification requirements
Proven team player, with the ability to:
(i) Coordinate and mentor the control team by clearly explaining your code and helping the team adopt robust industrial methods: you will take the responsibility in developing Skill 1 and Skill 2 across the team
(ii)Collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams
Solid knowledge of control theory, state machines and system identification
Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink and model-based design is a plus
Excellent spoken and written English and French (mandatory); German is a plus
