We are actively seeking a
SENIOR CONTENT MARKETING MANAGER
to serve as the editorial and strategic spine of Volleyball World's Content Factory for Indoor & Beach Volleyball. This role owns the content marketing vision end-to-end: from narrative planning and editorial governance to campaign execution and third-party content amplification.
The Senior Content Marketing Manager sits at the intersection of editorial direction, production oversight, athlete storytelling, partner marketing and influencer marketing. They work in close coordination with the production orchestration function, the athlete strategy function, and the broader commercial and marketing teams to ensure that content output is coherent, high-quality, and aligned with the company's commercial and brand priorities.
This role has functional leadership across a global network of community managers, agencies and content partners, and is supported by a Content Planning Specialist.
This role requires up to 25% international travel to support Volleyball World events, meetings and other business activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Editorial Strategy and Content Direction
The Senior Content Marketing Manager owns the editorial strategy that drives content production to deliver audience, brand and commercial impact.
- Defines and owns the global editorial calendar across all Volleyball World platforms, competitions, and campaigns
- Sets narrative priorities: key rivalries, athlete storylines, competition arcs, and culturally relevant moments to amplify globally
- Translates business and commercial objectives into content themes, content hierarchies, and storytelling mandates that deliver high levels of fan engagement and business impact
- Provides editorial direction to community managers, content creators, and the production team through structured briefs, narrative frameworks, and performance reviews
- Identifies emerging story opportunities in real time during competition periods and makes editorial decisions under time pressure
- Builds and maintains a volleyball knowledge base (players, domestic leagues, national team dynamics, fan culture by market) that informs content prioritization across all formats
2. Content Factory Leadership and Governance
- Leads the governance and operational framework of the Content Factory
- Oversees the implementation of brand and storytelling standards across markets and agencies
- Ensures global markets and partners receive timely, high-quality assets aligned with brand priorities
- Maintains oversight of content access permissions and distribution channels across platforms and agencies
- Develops, manages, and monitors the Content Factory operational budget in line with company objectives.
- Builds and maintains an operational framework capable of delivering content at expected volume and quality
3. Production Coordination and Event Content Leadership
This role leads production to ensure editorial alignment between what is produced and what is strategically needed.
- Provides editorial briefs and content objectives to producers for each competition and campaign cycle
- Aligns with producers on script direction, key moments to capture, and deliverable priorities
- Reviews and approves final content outputs against editorial and brand standards
- Manages strategic relationships with content agencies, photographers, and external creators
- Works closely with event operations and production teams to ensure capture of priority moments and storylines
- Leads on-site content operations for all key events working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including managing contracts, content planning and delivery, and the daily co-ordination of onsite and remote teams.
4. Athlete Content Strategy and Distribution
- Coordinates with the athlete function to ensure athlete-generated content and storylines feed into the broader editorial calendar
- Supports the athlete function by providing content production infrastructure, from briefing through to delivery, ensuring athlete content narratives are effectively amplified across Volleyball World's owned channels
5. Partner, Third-Party & Influencer Content Marketing
- Develops and manages a tailored digital content portfolio for FIVB/Volleyball World events and commercial partners
- Creates innovative content and activation concepts that deliver measurable value for commercial partners, integrating brand objectives into fan-centric storytelling across owned and third‑party distribution channels.
- Builds and maintains relationships with institutions, publishers, broadcasters, sponsors, celebrities, influencers, and athletes
- Collaborates on influencer marketing across strategic markets, ensuring content strategy fit and leading on amplification across owned channels
- Manages the talent pool activation across markets and continents aligned to the Volleyball World event calendar and key campaigns
- Develops marketing materials, conceptualizes new content products, and leads RFPs and campaign marketing initiatives for third‑party distribution
- Raises the commercial and brand profile of events through non-owned channels
6. Global Social Media and Community Management
- Coordinates the global network of community managers across all Volleyball World social media platforms
- Defines publishing priorities, tone of voice, and platform‑specific execution guidelines in line with global content strategy
- Provides daily editorial direction and real‑time decision making for social media coverage during competitions and key announcements
- Ensures consistent fan engagement, moderation standards, and community voice across all markets
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field
- Postgraduate studies or equivalent practical experience is a plus
- 10+ years of experience in communications, content strategy, and media operations, ideally in sports
- 7+ years of experience in live event and end‑to‑end content operations, including planning, execution, coordination, and distribution
- Experience bridging strategic leadership and hands‑on execution in global, high‑pressure environments
- Proven track record leading editorial strategy and content creation across social media, PR, events, and broadcasters
- Hands‑on experience managing high-volume content ecosystems and distributed content teams/agencies, including onsite crews, remote teams, and external agencies
- Proven experience managing global multi‑event operations, coordinating multiple teams and markets simultaneously
- Background in third‑party content distribution, including partnerships with institutions, publishers, and influencers
