Job summary

ABB Switzerland Ltd., Schaffhausen, seeks a highly skilled Service Technician to troubleshoot and maintain highly automated production equipment. You will collaborate with manufacturing teams and external service providers to ensure smooth operations, while contributing to continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.

The role requires a vocational qualification in automation or related fields, 10+ years of industrial automation experience, and willingness for a four-shift schedule.

Qualifications

• Completed vocational training as an Automation Technician, Mechatronics Technician, Mechanical Technician, Production Technician, Electrician, or in a comparable technical field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial automation, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex production and assembly systems (mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic).
• NIV13 or NIV15 electrical installation certification is an advantage, or willingness to obtain it with ABB support.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, combined with a proactive and independent working style.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office and SAP, as well as excellent German language skills (written and spoken); English language skills are an advantage.
• Willingness to work in a four-shift operation, including on-call duty after the onboarding period.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues on highly automated production equipment (mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic).
• Perform preventive maintenance and servicing of production equipment.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams, Production Engineering, and external service providers to ensure smooth production operations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment, including Lean Management activities.
