Sika's Core Technology team in Sarnen seeks a Scientist to advance projects in thermoplastic systems for construction and automotive applications. Based at the Global Technology Center, you will plan and execute development programs, design experiments, and help translate results into commercial solutions.

• Experience with NMR, GPC, HPLC, DSC and thermoplastic processing is beneficial.
• Good English; German knowledge is a plus.

Job Description

Our departments in the area of Sika’s Core TechnologyThermoplastic Systemsconduct global projects within Sika’s Target Markets, bridging the gap between fundamental science and product development. To strengthen ourteam, we are looking for a Scientistbased in our GlobalTechnology Center Sarnenwith the following tasks:

• Planning and execution of projects to develop products and technologiesrelated to applicationin construction and automotive industry
• Designing and characterizing minimum viable productsusing respective thermoplastic processing techniques as well aschemical-analytical and physical testing methods
• Supportingwith the practical implementation of project results toward commercial use, assisting in troubleshooting formulation or processing issues
• Researching and assessing technical state-of-the-art by evaluating scientific literature, patents, chemical databases and market information
• Analyzing experimental data, documenting results, and preparing technical reports, presentations and patent applications
• Engaging with external academic / industry partners, managing joint projects
• Leading project teams in an agile environment

Qualifications

• MSc / preferably PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science and Engineeringwith solidexpertise in polymer chemistry, polymer physics or polymer engineering
• Proficiency in practical laboratory work andin classical analytical testing methods (NMR, GPC, HPLC, DSC); practical experience in thermoplastic processing is a plus
• Basic knowledge in Project Management
• First practical experience in industrial R&D is a plus
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is a plus
• Structured working style, good problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
• Ability to communicate complex research findings effectively
• Interest in considering commercial and sustainability constraints alongside technical goals; ability to balance scientific rigor with practical feasibility
• Curiosity and willingness to learn new methods and technologies across disciplines
