Zusammenfassung

Spacetek Technology AG, based in Gümligen (Bern), seeks a highly qualified researcher to lead R&D on the IonTamer instrument and drive development through design iteration and literature-driven experiments.

The role requires a PhD or an equivalent Master’s with 3+ years of industry experience, strong metrology knowledge (TOF-MS), and Python-based data analysis. Hands-on instrumentation and German language skills are a plus. Start date to be agreed.

Qualifikationen

• In-depth metrology knowledge, preferably TOF-MS.
• Python data analysis and measurement uncertainty analysis.
• Hands-on experimental skills with complex instrumentation.
• Familiarity with ion sources, ion detectors and signal acquisition electronics.
• Experience with vacuum systems and sample gas handling.
• Knowledge of semiconductor industry or plasma/dry etch processes is a plus.
• Fluent in English; German proficiency is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Propose and drive R&D projects for IonTamer instrument development.
• Design and perform experiments and literature research to answer research questions.
• Analyse, interpret and summarize experimental outcomes; recommend a course of action.
• Provide expertise on the scientific aspects of time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
• Lead the final commissioning and characterization of newly assembled instruments, including defining acceptance criteria and performance specifications.
• Develop and refine characterization methods for key performance parameters.
• Design and implement automated measurement routines to improve repeatability, reproducibility, and data quality.
• Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of instrument performance issues, in collaboration with engineering and production.
• Document results in technical reports and specifications, and contribute to continuous improvement of the instruments.

Your Responsibilities:

Your Profile

• A PhD in a relevant technical field, alternatively a Master's degree with 3+ years of industry experience
• In-depth knowledge of metrology techniques, preferably (time-of-flight) mass spectrometry
• Knowledge of scientific data analysis and visualization in Python, including measurement uncertainty analysis
• Hands-on experimental skills and experience working directly with complex instrumentation
• Familiarity with sub-components such as ion sources, ion detectors and signal acquisition electronics is an advantage
• Experience with vacuum systems and sample gas handling is an advantage
• Familiarity with the semiconductor industry or plasma/dry etch processes is an advantage
• Fluent in English (written and spoken), German proficiency is a plus
